There’s no hiding the fact that this season has started with not a lot of snow. The snow piles along the sides of the roads are about a quarter of the volume as previous winters. For us we still have to recon locations and find out which areas are skiable and how much snow accumulation would be needed before venturing into these areas safely.
Considering the wind affect we went to my favourite area last season with the Finnish crew. The sound of water, the width of the creek and the depth of the gullies were not encouraging. Exposed tree trunks and bamboo shots appear to be the norm in most places at the moment. Travel and ski with a cautious mind is a given.
Happy to have grabbed a few shots of the run down a 40 odd degree slope, short but sweet.
